During the covid-19 pandemic, infographics were everywhere, especially showing geographic cases on maps, such as those featured by the New York Times. In the body of work, Spread, each piece references these infographic maps, replacing the dots with holes created by using a Japanese screw punch tool in various sizes, and appears to spread as voids across the paper. The removal of material as a form of drawing allows light and shadow to pass through the paper. The white paper reads and sterile, while the holes reference a kind of decay and absence.
